About the programme

Join us for a three part professional learning series focused on strengthening mathematics teaching and learning. This programme supports educators in developing deep conceptual understanding, making effective use of assessment objectives, and embedding problem solving and reasoning into everyday practice.

Who should join?

Primary teachers (Years 1–6), mathematics leads, and colleagues interested in developing their mathematics pedagogy and leadership.

1. What is Mathematical Mastery?	Wednesday, 16 September 2026	Explore the principles underpinning the AISL Mathematics Mastery Curriculum, including effective mathematics teaching, the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach, and lesson structures that support deep mathematical understanding.
2. Representation and Structure	Wednesday, 28 October 2026	Discover how representations and manipulatives support conceptual understanding and help pupils move confidently from concrete experiences to abstract mathematical thinking.
3. Fluency with Understanding and Task Design	Wednesday, 18 November 2026	Redefine mathematical fluency through retrieval, rehearsal, and intelligent practice, while exploring task design approaches that promote reasoning, deepen thinking, and reveal mathematical structure.
4. Mathematical Thinking and Oracy	Wednesday, 13 January 2027	Learn strategies that encourage pupils to think, explain, justify, and reason mathematically through purposeful questioning and structured mathematical discussion.
5. Supporting All Learners	Wednesday, 24 February 2027	Explore how to maintain high expectations for all learners through effective challenge, scaffolding, and adaptive teaching approaches.
6. Computational Thinking in Mathematics	Wednesday, 10 March 2027	Learn strategies that encourage pupils to think, explain, justify, and reason mathematically through purposeful questioning and structured mathematical discussion.
